If you look at my highlights, Phil did something very Tiger-esque, and I give him full credit for that. So please stop with this Tiger line because its just not true.

I've tried on numerous occasions to end this because I really didnt expect a discussion like this from that small line I wrote, it wasn't meant to be a promotion of tiger or downplaying Padraig, it was just what I thought.

That's exactly what it was meant to do.  If you din't want to downplay it, you wouldn't have tossed it out there.

As for Tiger-esque, Padraig was Tiger while Neo was gone under the knife and rehabbing.

Yeah I guess I chose the wrong wording, but I was just saying what I thought about the shot because I was a bit surprised to see it on anyones list.

I think its wrong to say that Padraig was Tiger, I don't think its quite that easy or simple to fill the shoes of Tiger Woods.

I don't think it's simple, but he did it.  Who else wins three of six Majors and does what he did to win the PGA?  No one outside Tiger pulls off those types of comebacks... yet he did.

Two victories doesn't mean you can be compared to Tiger Woods.

3 of the last six Majors including the last two, a huge comeback playing two full rounds at the PGA and going 66-66 when everyone else was moving the other way on the leader board, making every single putt there was to be made, choking off the competition before they had a chance to sniff a chance to comeback (see eagle on 17 at British, see putt on 18 at the PGA), and having the entire world know that when you stand over a clutch putt it's going down... that is exactly what it is... Tiger-esque.

Talking of choking, I remember being at Carnoustie last year when Harrington played the last hole on Sunday, the only comparison being made in the stands that day was to a certain Jean Van De Velde.

I remember watching Tiger blow two Sunday leads against Zach Johnson and Angel Cabrera in back-to-back Majors.  I also remember Padraig beating Eldrick in a playoff.

No one here is trying to suggest Padraig's career resembles Tiger's, but with Tiger gone, Padraig filled his huge shoes with brilliant performances and clutch putting.  Things that it seem only Ranger Rick has been doing lately.

Padraig has done well and Im not trying to dispute that, although I think you are overstating what Padraig did as what he did at the Open this year wasn't really brilliant, the PGA yes, but thats just one tournament.

Of course it's not brilliant to you, if it was you'd have to admit that what he did was Tiger-esque.  How many players had two rounds in the red at the British Open?  He won by four, had pretty much wrapped the tournament up on the 17th tee and while in the fairway he gave a giant "Take that" to the field with his incredible shot (the same take that he gave to the Serge on 17 at Oakland Hills)... only one guy does that... well apparently, now two.

    Yes okay?

I'm guessing its just because I missed the PGA because to me Padraig is still in the same category as the Lee Westwoods or Luke Donalds. He was just the lucky one who got to take advantage of Tigers absence.

You should go find a tape of it then.  You'll think you're watching Tiger.

I saw the highlights and they were good putts, the type of thing Tiger would do. It still doesn't change my views however.

Again, of course not, then you'd have to admit he's been Tiger while Tiger's gone... and contrary to popular belief that it's easy to do when he's not around, it's obviously not or no one would be doing it because they'd all be playing exactly the same.

    Re: Highlights of 2008

No, to be honest I think the way you have phrased it is wrong to be honest and thats what is causing the disagreement. Any of the tour players can do the things that Tiger does and have done these things over the last few months, holing long putts etc, but that doesn't mean you can say that they have been Tiger. In the same way just because Harrington holed a few clutch putts I don't think its fair to either to go round saying that he has been Tiger Woods. Apart from those two majors, he hasn't really been a key player on the tour while Tiger has been gone.
