Keeping a low handicap with kids

I need some advice.  How do you hackers keep your handicaps low after having kids?  I now have a 4yr old, 3yr old and a new one on the way.  I can't find the time to get on the range let alone the course.  I now only practice hitting wiffle golf balls into my hammock in the back yard with my sand wedge to keep my short game rhythm in check while my kids knock each other over on the swing set.

    What do you do?

I'd love to be able to help you out, but I suspect you are looking for advice from someone who actually HAS or HAS HAD a low handicap at some point.  SO that rules me out...

Johnny, try taking the kids with you, but one at a time. My best friend has two 6 yr old twins and we take them all the time. Let me just warn you don't play with your buds-most of them are not motivated about having your kids there. Good luck!!

Re: Keeping a low handicap with kids

First off, if you cant get to the course it doesnt much matter how you shoot right? Wink

But, im assuming you plan on getting out there again and dont want to learn how to swing again on the course, so i would suggest getting a backyard mat and netting system and just hit balls while your kids are killing each other...hahaha

However, be careful on what you buy b/c i destroyed one in about 30 mins. I have a 120 mph clubhead speed, so i would try to find one that will definetly work with yours or it will be a waste of money.

Oh, and putt on a carpet...thats very important as well!

    Hope that helps!

That is the key, once they are interested, they will want to play all of the time.
