I like to play wide par 5s and long wide par 4s because i love to hit my drives and not worry so much about trees, even on a day when my drives won't go where i want.

I prefer Par 5s.

My average drive is 310 and I am fairly strait with it so I have a pretty big advantage on Par 5s and make a fair number of Birdies on them.  I also like long par 4s for the same reason.

I like par 3s the best because they have to be designed more challenging then other holes because of the shortness. I have seen some awsome par 3s before, and I think when you look back, that is what holes you remember the most.

I like Par 5's best of all because I'll be using less club to get onto the green in regulation (thus maximizing my chances of getting closer to the hole) than I will on Par 3's or 4's.

My guess is that the pros like Par 5's best because they get more birdies and eagles on them (percentage-wise) than on the Par 3's and 4's.

It's been said (and I agree) that most Par 5's on tour are Par 4's for Tiger.  That's why it's been said that most Par 72 golf courses on Tour are really Par 68's or Par 69's for Tiger.

Hence the moniker "combackkid!"  I agree - I used to hate par 5s because the tee was the only time I could get the ball in the air.  Now that I'm slightly better, I like them best.  Long par 4s and long par 3s are my downfall.  With my length (or lack thereof) I'm usually playing for bogey!

I like short par 5s because I am extremly long for my age (can crush a driver about 260ish on good day) so I have a good chance of reaching the green in 2 and a putt for eagle ( rarely). And long par 3s(230 back tees) so I can go all the way to the back tees and try to hit a high soft landing wood on the green.

5's because they are typically birdie holes

Anything but long par 4's. Even though I can drive the ball 300 yards, I'm not real accurate. That can really hurt on a long par 4. As another member said, at least on a par 5 if you flub off the tee you have some chance at redemption. If I don't choke, then it's a great psychological play to put it on in two. I love par 3's that are less than 185, especially if it is right on a distance for a full iron. Not having to lay off, hit a knockdown, or otherwise invent a shot is always better.
