Kenny Perry to play in Milwaukee rather than at Royal Birkdale

Kenny Perry is the hottest golfer on the PGA Tour right now with three victories in his last five starts.  Interestingly, he has played in no majors because he did not qualify for the Masters and he did not take part in qualifying for the US Open.  Although Perry has qualified for the British Open, he is passing it up and playing in the US Bank Championship in Milwaukee, where he'll have a good shot at a fourth title.  Perry has never won a major and I am surprised that he is passing up the British Open.  Perry is 47 years old and will not have too many more chances to win majors.  It is commendable however that he is honoring his commitment to play in Milwaukee.  It is also commendable that Perry set his sights on making the US Ryder Cup team this year, with the event being played in his native Kentucky.  It's tough to imagine many other golfers making the same choice though.

its amazing what goal-setting and motivation can do for a person who has the ability. had it been a year where the ryder cup wasn't being played at valhalla, perry may very well have no wins. the only thing that concerns me about his choice not to play the open is that its a good bet all the european ryder cup players will be playing in the open. i would think perry at least would play in the pga championship.
