    Have you ever seen Tiger?

    Hi everybody again,

As you know I live in Spain so for me nowadays is very difficult to see Tiger in real life. I hope some day another Ryder Cup will play again in Spain at Valderrama or other important golf course of my country and He will come again. Of course at this time I sure will go to see him.

One day in 2005 I went with my girl friend to the Hard Rock of my city (Madrid) and in front of me were Padraig Harrington (winner of the BRITISH OPEN championship 2007) and his wife, I went to his table and began talking with him/them. He was very funny and of course completely happy because somebody recognize him out of a golf course.

Have you ever seen Tiger? Where? When?

    HI:)

It's always a pleasure to see you, trust me.  No, I haven't ever seen Tiger in person.  But then, I do get to see Him on TV, once in a while...  don' be a stranger.

Yeah. I went to the british open in 2003 and saw him there. Then more recently at the WGC in london a year ago. I was about ten yards behind him on the range and his ball flight is just amazing, it was lower than i thought and it just penetrates the wind its lush. Then i watched him round the chipping green and seriously, it was sick. He threw 4 balls in the bunker, and hit them to different holes, and each one went to like 2 foot. He was also getting backspin on flop shots, it was just the most awesome thing I have ever seen.

Re: Have you ever seen Tiger?

Sure Have. Luckily I live in Scotland which isn't too big, and at least every second year they hold the British Open here.   So when it is held in Scotland I never have to far to travel to go.  Tiger is the only reason I go and I never leave until I catch a glimpse of him.   Saw him this year at Carnoustie however for just one shot which he hooked into the burn from the first tee.   Good to see he's human after all!

We'll see who's first by the end of the round

I've seen Tiger four times, twice at Firestone for the World Golf Championships in '06 and '07, the Memorial Tournament in '07 and the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines also in '07. The Memorial I saw him the most, for each of the days of the tournament including the pro-am. Firestone in '06 I saw him during his practice round on the first tee and at the range. The Buick I followed him for the pro-am. Firestone in '07 I saw him during his practice round, and rounds 1,2 and 4.

Re: Have you ever seen Tiger?

Yes, I have seen Tiger.  It was at the 2005 U.S. Open, and it was one of the most amazing things.

People have always said we look alike, and I know exactly what they mean.  I got a chance to see him practice on the driving range.  His ball flight is a lot like mine: low and piercing.  At first, I don't think he noticed me, but once he did, he did a double-take!  We look strikingly alike; I mean height, weight, smile, demeanor, speech, you name it.  I was about 1 foot from him at the 16th.  Good luck in golf.

Top golfers 'won't travel to Australia'

    October 25, 2007 - 4:14PM

Australian golf fans need to get used to the fact that the days of foreign marquee players contesting domestic events are over, according to US Tour star Stuart Appleby.

Appleby, in Melbourne for the launch of next month's Australian Masters, said the massive money on offer in America and the tyranny of distance meant the days of major winners playing in Australia were at an end.

"You're not going to get the top Americans to Australia. It's not going to happen, the business has changed," Appleby said.

"You can see how it is when you get to Thanksgiving in America and you get to the end of the year, it's always going to be hard now for Australia to attract players.

"Unless a tournament's got a half million dollar appearance fee they can blow around and spend on foreigners it's difficult to attract them."

Australian players have won just twice on the US Tour this year compared to eight victories last season but Appleby said he was confident they would regain their footing as a force on the Tour.

Aaron Baddeley, who won the FBR Open, is now the leading Australian on the US money list at No.10 while Adam Scott, the only other Australian to win - at Houston - has dropped to 11th.

"I don't think where we were this year is reflective of our play as a quality of a nation, certainly when you look at the Presidents Cup and how good our world ranking was this year," Appleby said.

"When we won it in 1998 we were nowhere near as strong as what we are today, so it doesn't always equate to wins.

"We are getting better and stronger but it was quiet and I don't really know why.

"Last year was probably more above the mean average.

"I think if we won six tournaments a year that would be pretty good, out of the Aussies.

"We had I think eight last year so that was probably high and where we were this year with a couple was pretty quiet," Appleby said.

The Victorian, who won twice last year, described this season as "average" with his best finish a tie for second behind Scott in Texas.

"I had some chances to potentially make it like last year but I just didn't capitalise," he said. "And that's sometimes enjoyable because it drives you to get up there again."

Appleby said opportunities for Australians - or anyone else - to win were becoming slimmer with the dominance of Tiger Woods.

"Certainly with Tiger, he's on Mt Everest already. He's waiting for everyone else to try and catch up.

"He's leaving very little on the table for us to win sometimes when you think he wins six or eight tournaments a year.

"Then you've got someone like Phil (Mickelson) or Vijay (Singh) and throw in between those two six and it gets a bit skimpy.

"But I think we can make our presence known again and hopefully I'm somewhere in there," he said.

This year's Masters will feature Dane Thomas Bjorn, Australian Open champion John Senden and fellow US Tour players Rod Pampling, Mark Hensby and Nick Flanagan as well as teenage stars Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland and Oli Fisher of England.
